Job Summary

RKA Consulting Group is currently accepting resumes for a full-time Building Inspector to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing field inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings in cities such as Walnut, Diamond Bar, La Verne, and San Gabriel. Inspections may include electrical, plumbing, mechanical plans, layouts, and site plans to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and standards
  • Inspect various phases of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Review over-the-counter plans and assist in issuing building permits
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, both orally and in writing
  • Perform tasks independently and contribute to a team environment

Required Qualifications

  • ICC Certification as a Building Inspector
  • Two to three (2-3) years of experience as a Building Inspector preferred. Candidates with strong construction backgrounds or a contractor's license will be considered with the expectation of obtaining ICC Certification within one (1) year of employment. Local California experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans, layouts, and codes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic office software required for managing inspection logs, daily reports, and mileage logs
  • Valid Class C California Driver License with a satisfactory driving record
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks efficiently

  • Paid Maternity and Paternity Leave – Up to four weeks of paid leave for new parents following the birth, adoption, or placement of a foster child
  • FMLA – Up to 12 weeks off, concurrent with paid parental leave

  • School or Licensed Day Care Activity Leave – Up to 40 hours per school year for parents to participate in school activities
  • Travel and Expense Reimbursement – RKA reimburses for expenses incurred as a result of travel and/or entertainment directly related to company business
