MARY PLACE ACCESSIBILITY IMPROVEMENTS – CS-21-11
City of Claremont
Completion Date: 2022

RKA Consulting Group served as the lead construction inspection consultant for the Mary Place Accessibility Improvements (CS-21-11) in the City of Claremont. The project was designed to enhance ADA accessibility along Mary Place through the installation of new sidewalk, curb ramps, and related infrastructure upgrades—ensuring compliance with federal and local accessibility standards.

RKA provided full-time inspection services throughout the construction phase, maintaining daily on-site oversight to ensure that all work adhered to the approved contract documents and specifications. RKA’s inspector, Walter Pruszynski, played a critical role in upholding quality control and safety compliance throughout the life of the project.

Key responsibilities included:
  • Monitoring contractor safety practices and ensuring an active safety program was implemented and maintained from pre-construction through project closeout
  • Preparing detailed daily observation reports, reviewed by RKA’s construction manager, to document field activities and directives
  • Tracking installed quantities and verifying them against bid items using field measurements and other acceptable methods
  • Ensuring the contractor completed all work in accordance with project specifications, including the final punch list and closeout requirements
RKA performed inspection services under prevailing wage requirements, with an estimated 160 hours of on-site inspection across a 20-day period. The firm’s consistent field presence and communication with City staff contributed to the project’s successful delivery—on time, within scope, and within budget.
